MELANIE-JANE - KAWAKAWA CARVED PAINTING BY HIKURANGI EDWARDS
The warm, healing properties in the Kawakawa plant, or ‘pepper tree’, make this fabulous carved painting especially worthy of a spot on the cosy list!
CLAYTON - PA KAHAWHAI BY TODD DOUGLAS
With the sea always close to his heart, Clayton’s choice are the ceramic, timber and cord ‘Pa Kahawai’ based on a traditional trolling lure, by ceramicist Todd Douglas.
HARRIET - 'ARISING AT MAHURANGI' BY JANE PUCKEY
Jane Puckey’s ‘Arising at Mahurangi’ paints a wonderful picture of the warm months ahead. Harriet is excited for the coming seasons, with fields bursting with fresh growth after the winter rains. She has fond memories of kayaking in this very spot as a child with her father.
OLIVIA - TOI TE MANA BOOK
Olivia loves to curl up with a good book, and the wonderful ‘Toi te Mana’ is at the top of her reading list.
JOANNE - RURUKU RIVER TŌTARA BY SHANNON TURUWHENUA
The taonga Shannon crafts from rescued native Timbers is calling to Joanne this winter, especially this piece made from rescued River Tōtara. The memories held in the aromatic wood give the pieces true warmth and character.
SAPPHIRE - LION ROCK | PIHA WOODBLOCK PRINT BY NIC TUCKER
Nic Tucker’s incredible Mountain woodcut prints are a real favourite throughout winter, but it’s the colours in Lion Rock that appeal to Sapphire right now, “It’s warming up the space during the winter months”, she says.
SHERRY - URBAN EYES VESSEL BY PHILIP STOKES
With thoughts of the summer ahead, Sherry enjoys the blend of colours in this hand blown glass piece by Philip Stokes. “The movement in the colours is like water within,” she says.
