Scott says “My motivation and my drive for my art is fuelled by a genuine interest for what I do in re-creating traditional art-forms, and I hope to further my knowledge of Taonga pounamu and explore the limitations of precious metals and pounamu combined”.
He was born in and currently lives in Rotorua and was trained in 2010 by a well-respected family friend Peter Akker. “Peter gave me the skills and opportunity to produce work of an award-winning standard – I learnt very quickly there is no place for sub-standard work, and that my work was a reflection of who I was, not only as an artist but as a person.”
Parker works mainly in pounamu, gold and silver, but sometimes extends his practice to wood. He has shown work in various exhibitions, and is held in private collections both nationally and internationally.
