Luke was born & bred on the West Coast of the South Island, growing up in Ross/Hokitika. From an early age, he showed an interest in creative pursuits. His first experiences of carving were in high school where he developed a curiosity for & a strong connection with the medium. His interest developed further after gaining work experience in a jade factory in Hokitika & several carving businesses where he broadened & honed his skill base.

Luke is now based in Queenstown where he creates pieces for both the local & international markets. His pieces are a mix of traditional & contemporary designs inspired by organic forms in nature. His pounamu is sourced from Ngai Tahu, the legal kaitiaki & the only authentic source of Aotearoa’s Pounamu since 1997.
