Collection: Daniel Wright

Daniel Wright is a self-taught New Zealand Sculptor, inspired & driven by his passion for the ocean & his love of surfing. Growing up, Wright was surrounded by the beauty of the sea at Piha Beach on Auckland’s West Coast, he has since uprooted & now resides on Great Barrier Island where he lives out his ‘island life'. 

Daniel is the son of basket weavers & discovered his personal creativity during high school where he learnt Bone & Wood Carving. Although native timber & bone were the media Daniel cut his creative teeth on, he has now evolved to working predominantly with the metal copper.

As an artist, Daniel aims to create works that are both imaginative & realistic - he desires to capture the simplicity, beauty & essence of his chosen subject matter.
