Charlie Marsh
Charlie began his creative journey in the small town of Dannevirke in the Manawatu where, as a young man he discovered a passion for the Māori art forms of whakairo & tattooing, as well as, painting with acrylics & enamels.
Through his creative practice, Charlie learnt more about his iwi and the
tikanga associated with whakairo. Although he worked for a time with a shearing gang, an accident gave him the opportunity to reconnect with his creative talents.
He is now working full-time as a
Pounamu carver with the Rakai Studio in Rotorua, where he also teaches carving workshops.
We are proud to support, Charlie Marsh!
