Whakakotahi - Rimu | Shannon Turuwhenua
Introducing the powerful Whakakotahi, a uniquely handcrafted piece that embodies the profound meaning of Waka (vessel) and kotahi (one)—to unify or make whole.
This sculpture is carved from Rimu from the terminal building at Princes Wharf. You can still see where the screws were, it was part of a handrail on a staircase.
Shannon is committed to sustainability, creating his art from native and exotic timbers, prioritising reclaimed or recycled sources where possible.
Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, reflecting Shannon’s inspiration to transform objects from daily life into larger, unified works of art.
The Whakakotahi stands as a timeless symbol of unity and connection.
Give your home a touch of style with this one-of-a-kind statement piece.
