In this raw and evocative piece, Anna Balasoglou immortalises the skeletal beauty of Aotearoa’s native silver fern.

This cuff was cast directly from a weathered, fossilised log discovered on a riverbank at Morrison’s Bush in the Wairarapa, capturing the intricate, lattice-like architecture of the ponga in stunning detail.

Finished in a matte black that emphasises its scorched, organic texture, the cuff feels less like jewellery and more like a fragment of the forest floor transformed into a wearable relic.

It is a powerful exploration of decay and preservation, honouring the distinctive "silver fern" lineage through a bold, sculptural form that remains deeply tethered to the riverbanks of its origin.
