Collection: Lorraine Natusch

Lorainne studied Craft Design at Christchurch Polytechnic & specialised in glass at the Art Station in Auckland. Since then she has completed various master classes with glass artists from across the globe. This enabled her to combine various techniques in her work. Lorainne is very well known for her cast glass house series using the lost wax method used historically for bronze casting.

"Most of my glass works around my fascination with houses and buildings. The “House Series” developed around an old homestead with family connections. The house had been suddenly abandoned when a family member had taken ill. It was still fully furnished but felt cold and empty. The shape is that of my studio, which was my great grandfather’s stables. I also look at the role of the house as our protection and haven. My work usually employs the interior and exterior of the glass and I play with the light, colour and surface finishes."
