Collection: Jeremy Leeming

Jeremy works from his Christchurch studio the 'Filing Kabinett' along with fellow jewellers Elfi Spiewack & Lynn Kelly, & Jeremy’s dog, Lola.

Graduating from Otago School of Art in 1992 with a Diploma in Craft & Design, it was during his study that he met the late Jens Hansen with whom he would later complete an apprenticeship in Nelson. Jen’s love of life & art & his Scandanavian aesthetic continues to remain relevant to Jeremy today.

Jeremy seeks to find simplicity in his jewellery practice, endeavoring to capture clean lines by using a reduced palette of materials. He has a fascination with the lasting qualities of New Zealand Jasper, Argillite, Basalt, & Pounamu. Jeremy’s priority is to ensure that each form resonates with the integrity of his chosen materials.

He has a pragmatic approach to his craft acknowledging that whilst there will always be people who appreciate the handmade aspects of jewellery, technology has opened up other opportunities in terms of time-saving & commercial viability. Additionally, he believes mass-produced items help to reframe the uniqueness of the handmade object. Jeremy feels lucky to be able to work as a full-time jeweller, a job he loves, & that brings him much joy & satisfaction.

We are proud to support, Jeremy Leeming!
