Hal expansive creative journey encompasses nearly two decades in arts across New Zealand and Australia. At the heart of his hands-on practice is an unwavering drive to create, which over the past six years has centered on crafting handcrafted wooden taonga boxes—designed as specialized vessels to hold highly prized keepsakes.

Equally as significant as the treasures held within, the timber itself brings a unique history and sense of permanence to each piece. Hal crafts these vessels using rare, sacred woods rich in mana (spiritual energy and prestige)—many of which are now exceptionally rare, giving every box a distinct presence.
