Takirua

Anna Hayes-Moeau celebrates the power of collective strength and spiritual heritage in this luminous woven panel. Crafted from Pīngao a precious golden sedge found only in New Zealand the work glows with a natural brilliance that deepens over time.

The piece is defined by the Takirua pattern, where fibers are woven in pairs to symbolise teamwork, unity, and the bridge between differing perspectives. 

Adding a layer of quiet depth are four subtle semi-circles of muka (flax fiber). This delicate detailing, hidden within the harakeke plant, serves as a reminder of our spiritual connections and the unseen forces that guide us.

Housed in an elegant black frame, this original work transforms traditional materials into a sophisticated contemporary statement. It is a beautiful tribute to the harmony of diverse cultures and the enduring spirit of Aotearoa.
