In Hau-ā-papa, Anna Hayes-Moeau showcases the raw, luminous beauty of Pīngao, New Zealand’s golden sand sedge. The title translates to "natural resource," a tribute to the precious materials provided by the land.

This striking piece features a natural bell shape, achieved by carefully grading the Pīngao leaves from wide to thin. At its core is the Takirua pattern—woven in pairs to symbolise teamwork, cooperation, and the unity of different cultures and perspectives. 

The vibrant golden hue is entirely natural, highlighting why this endemic plant remains one of the most sought-after resources in the world of traditional weaving.
