The Poi Room Directors, Melanie-Jane & Clayton, are currently travelling down South & taking the time to visit our talented Artists along the way. Discover what they’ve been up to!
Our first Artist visit was with Cam Munroe on the beautiful Kapiti Coast. We spent time in her studio & Clayton tried his hand at visualising an upcoming painting. We then enjoyed a shared meal together & a nice cold beer. We loved the rolling hills, Te Horo Beach & the road signs within the area. Always a delight to see Cam!!

We then moved on to Lyall Bay - exploring on our morning walks, seagulls & bull kelp to keep us company, stopping for a coffee at Maranui Surf Club, but unfortunately no surf for Clayton!!
Next Artist! We met Tim Christie at his wonderful studio & our minds were blown by his creativity - he sees the world is a whole new way & we were fizzing off it. It was so nice to catch Tim in his gallery on Ghuznee Street, also doubles as a yoga studio he runs with his wife….. the artwork 'Triptych' we shot behind is massive, when viewed normally a mass of lines & colours, the image only comes out when photographed- how cool!
We took the time to walk up Mount Victoria - so worth a trip up Mt Vic to truely see the city! Like they say, “you can’t beat Wellington on a good day” & it was strudels good day.
We then went on to visit the stunning Sheree Willman & her studio! Such a delight to spend time with Sheree & talk all things art, culture all while enjoying a cheeseboard & vino upon her deck over looking Wellington.
We are now in the exquisite Martinborough & we've just had lunch at a vineyard, safe to say we are having the best time! We are feeling relaxed, inspired & grateful that we are able to be on this beautiful trip together. We will keep in touch with our adventures! Talk soon, MJ & C
