Handcrafted by Dean Marjoribanks, this Niho is carved from Inanga pounamu. Renowned for its light olive-green tones, Inanga  is a rare and highly prized stone, celebrated for its feminine heritage.

The clean rectangular form and bevelled edge reflect the enduring simplicity of traditional toki design. Finished with a traditional lashed binding and an adjustable black cord, the pendant is designed to showcase the natural beauty and individuality of the pounamu.

Meaning of the Toki

The origin shape; the toki (adze) is a traditional Māori tool form associated with strength, determination, skill, and leadership. Historically used by tohunga (experts) for carving and shaping, the toki represents the qualities needed to overcome challenges and create with purpose.

Worn as a taonga, the toki carries a connection to resilience, knowledge, and the strength passed through generations.
