Mike Paora is of Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Tūwharetoa descent and resides in Whangārei. 

The slats of the large circle are Matāi Sapwood. The white slats are Spruce, the ripple carved disc is rimu as is the ring at the tpop of the piece, The centre ring is a walnut disc.
