In this evocative limited-edition silkscreen print, Alexis Neal explores the concept of Whakatipu—to grow, foster, or bring into being.

The composition features a fluid, organic form in a rich ochre-red, layered with a textured blue grey column that suggests the structural strength of woven harakeke or the trunk of a sapling.

Hand-printed as part of a series of ten, this work demonstrates Neal’s mastery of transparency and depth within the lithograph medium.

By blending botanical motifs with a contemporary graphic sensibility, Neal creates a tactile tribute to the nurturing forces of the natural world and the enduring cycles of growth in Aotearoa.
