Tiāho

In Tiāho, meaning "radiate" or "sparkle," Anna Hayes-Moeau captures the celestial wonder of the night sky. The panel is woven from harakeke (NZ native flax), harvested from the artist’s whānau land in Wairoa, Northern Hawke's Bay.

The work features the universal Takitahi pattern, symbolising our shared human connection. Interspersed throughout is the Papakirango motif, representing guardianship and protection.

Together, these patterns mimic stars shining in the darkness a universal sight that has guided and inspired every person throughout history.

Housed in a tall, elegant black shadow box, this original work is a luminous tribute to the heavens and our place within the universe.
