Jill Butler Design
From her home studio in West Auckland, Jill Butler designs patterns both bold & intricate that she screen prints onto fabric, homewares, accessories, & stationery items.
The starting point for all her designs is doodling with a black pen on photocopy paper. She likes to draw on photocopy paper because it's cheap & abundant & because of this it takes the pressure off producing something picture-perfect the first time: mistakes and scribbles are made and abandoned without guilt.
Jill finds inspiration in her garden & community; her designs are often a fusion of plants, flowers, & Pasifika motifs. Geometrics have intrigued her in the past as have the designs on old plates, tapestries, & Chinese embroidery, "Floating around in my head, these are the type of things I love to spend time with, pen in hand, seeing where they take me."
We are proud to support, Jill Butler!
