The New Zealand Fantail ( Pīwakawaka) is a friendly & energetic little bird.

The comparatively large fan-shaped tail, by which it has earned its name, enables it to perform amazing mid-air acrobatics making it one of the most agile birds in flight. 

In Māori legend, Pīwakawaka is the messenger bird that brings, to the people, news of death from the Gods.
