Ngāti Awa & Te Ātiawa
Alexis Neal is an Auckland based Artist & Fine Arts Tutor. As an Artist, her work refers to issues of cultural identity, predominately unpacking the duality of artifacts in terms of personal adornment & material culture. Neal's studio practice is interdisciplinary, combining components of print, weaving in many forms & installations, to address Tikanga Māori traditions within a contemporary context.
Primarily the backbone of Alexis Neal's art practice is the medium of Print & she has incorporated her study of Māori weaving. The combination of these interests has made her push the print medium into three dimensions.
Alexis Neal's artworks are a nod to her Māori culture & include her personal learnings of cultural identity, the value of history & the varying complexities of human connection.
We are proud to support, Alexis Neal!
