Carved Pounamu Kōpae Disc on a Stand

Carved Pounamu Kōpae Disc on a Stand | Alex Sands

This powerful contemporary sculpture by Alex Sands is a hand-polished Carved Pounamu Kōpae Disc on a Stand, representing eternity, togetherness, and continuity.

The perfect circular form beautifully encapsulates these concepts, showcasing the pure, unadulterated beauty of pounamu(New Zealand Greenstone).

The stone's surface reveals a dramatic, internal landscape of deep, polished blacks seamlessly transitioning into mottled moss green and rich olive hues.

Presented on a robust, sculptural timber stand, the cool, glossy pounamu contrasts beautifully with the warm wood.

This piece is a powerful, elegant statement, embodying both the profound meaning of the Kōpae and the essence of Aotearoa's most treasured material.
