Yobitsugi Slim Cup | Aaron Scythe

These slim cups are compelling examples of Aaron Scythe's masterful Yobitsugi technique applied to functional ceramics.

The cups feature a rough, narrow, hand-built form, deliberately wrapped and pieced together using the Japanese Yobitsugi aesthetic ("joined pieces").

Their surfaces are complex collages: a significant portion is raw, textured, earthy brown clay. This is contrasted by bands of intricate and densely painted overglaze decoration in bold red, blue, green, and white.

The decoration includes abstract motifs, traditional patterning, and possibly painted text, creating a strong dialogue between rough texture and refined artistry.

These unique cups would make a highly distinctive addition to any collection of contemporary ceramics.
