Huia were very friendly birds who mated for life and had a call that was easily mimicked. This made them easy to capture and often the surviving partner died of a broken heart soon after losing their mate.

Used by various cultures to represent wholeness and completion, the circular shape of mandalas can be interpreted as a symbol of the universe. Inspired by the tail feathers of the iconic Huia bird.

Feathers

Finding a feather is a very personal experience which will provide a unique meaning for each person depending on their circumstances.

Often seen as signs from loved ones who have transitioned to non-physical realms, because of their connection to birds, feathers can also represent flight and freedom.
In Māori culture, the Huia feather symbolizes leadership and mana, and they were historically given as expressions of honour and respect.
