This unique Pōhutukawa Trance ceramic piece is a deep, textural contemplation on the natural intelligence of the native New Zealand Pōhutukawa tree.

Hand-built from locally sourced stoneware, the bowl features an organic, slightly asymmetrical form that feels responsive in the hand.

Emma uses layers of underglazes, blending rich greens, deep blues, and the vibrant reds of the Pōhutukawa flower like watercolours. 

She then employs the sgraffito carving technique, cutting into the clay to define the foliage and blooms, creating a striking contrast between the glossy painted surface and the raw, tactile ceramic beneath.

This piece beautifully captures the essence of the "more-than-human" world, making it a perfect sculptural object for your home.
