In Manahau, Anna Hayes-Moeau captures the essence of its name meaning "cheerful" or "playful" through a vibrant and energetic composition. This woven panel is a celebration of happiness, expressed through the masterful interlacing of Aotearoa’s finest natural fibers.

The work features a joyous pairing of golden Pīngao and cream-toned Kiekie, meticulously placed to form a series of rhythmic diamond shapes.

Utilising the universal Takitahi pattern (over one, under one), the artist highlights the natural, sun-drenched colours that these plants reveal as they dry.
