The road to Akaroa from Little River on Banks Peninsula takes you on long, very windy roads with views of the most splendid hills.

Depending on the time you’re travelling, the shadows create undulating rises and falls and the light catches the crests. Given the height of the roads I’m more fond of the drive back as you hug the hill rather than hold your breath with the rather steep drop in full view! Farmers fences do little bar hold stock behind often vintage number eight wire and weathered posts.
