Part of Mary Schollum's Vessels of Excess series, Aurora III captures the shifting beauty of the aurora through luminous, iridescent glazes. Rich greens and deep blues flow across the vessel, while a soft white and pale violet rim melts gently into the surface, creating a sense of movement and light that changes with every angle.

Celebrating abundance over restraint, Schollum embraces the spontaneity of glaze in motion, finding beauty in layered surfaces, rich textures, and the unexpected. The result is a one-of-a-kind ceramic work that is both sculptural and expressive.

Each work in the series may be fired up to ten times, placing considerable demands on both the clay and the glaze. As a result of this intensive process, these vessels are intended as sculptural artworks and should not be considered watertight.
