SIGN LANGUAGE

This series is inspired by road signs which have been positioned to inform and instruct drivers as they travel to their destinations. Most commonly communicated with words or pictures, signs are also believed to come from ‘the universe’, via the natural world, music, synchronicity and dreams.

Just like the damage our bodies can endure over the course of life, the manufacturing process of these signs can sometimes result in them getting a little blemished on their journey towards completion.

Instead of seeking perfection, the viewer is encouraged to embrace these imperfections, and appreciate the flaws that make each piece as unique as we humans all are.

Inspired by the messages we receive from road signs, these pieces are from a series of artworks called ‘Sign Language’. Produced using reflective vinyl backed on aluminium, the words are designed to uplift and hearten the viewer.
