Wanaka artist Andi Regan turns the mundane on its head!

Andi Regan beautifully celebrates New Zealand’s native biodiversity in her intricate sculptural artwork, this striking wall-sculpture depicts two hihi (stitchbirds) caught mid-flight, their wings outspread in a dynamic, lifelike display beneath an arching canopy of native fuchsia flowers.

True to its title, the artwork cleverly integrates tiny yellow stitched 'X' marks across the birds' plumage, highlighting both the name of the species and the meticulous, hand-crafted nature of the piece. The vibrant green and black tones of the birds are mirrored by the delicate purple and yellow tones of the blossoms above.
