The hand-built ceramic, made from locally sourced stoneware, features an organic shape and a bold depiction of Kōwhai flowers. Emma creates rich colour by blending underglazes like watercolours, then uses the sgraffito technique carving into the leather-hard clay to sculpt the details and reveal the bare clay beneath. 

This process results in striking, high-contrast detail. The piece is finished with a clear glaze to lock in the vibrancy and enhance the texture.
