It celebrates the Pincushion Hakea, a shrub known for its beautiful cream and rose-pink flowers.

Emma hand-built this piece from locally sourced stoneware, giving it that lovely, organic shape and highly textured edge. She brings the Hakea to life by blending underglazes like watercolours.

Then, using her meticulous sgraffito carving technique, she cuts right into the clay to sculpt the details and reveal the natural clay beneath. This gives the piece a beautiful, high-contrast surface.
