Mike Paora has created a masterclass in texture and natural contrast with this striking circular piece titled Farewell 2025.

The composition is built from layered, undulating bands that evoke a landscape of rolling hills or perhaps the shifting tides of time as one year transitions into the next. Using a mix of timber and multimedia elements, the artist has developed a rich tapestry of patterns—ranging from fine geometric hatching to the organic, swirling grains of polished wood.

The warm golden tones at the top of the horizon suggest a soft sunset or a new dawn, providing a beautiful glow that balances the deeper, charred blacks and earthy browns at the base. This circular format, or tondo, gives the work a sense of containment and unity, making it feel like a complete world held within a frame.
