Binocular Vision Toroa | Paula Coulthard
Paula Coulthard captures the true spirit of the seabird in this atmospheric, large-scale flag. Crafted from distressed tarpaulin (house paint on canvas) the work features a majestic Toroa (albatross) flying freely, viewed through the lens of a pair of binoculars.
These new works are a continuation of the tarpaulin series but these are Banners painted on new cotton canvas.
The stylistic inspiration for the whale banners is a combination of vintage industrial advertising banners and side show or circus banners.
