Te Kete Moeoeā | Medina Koni
Medina Koni brings her beautiful, multi-part woven series to a stunning culmination with Te Kete Moemoeā, the basket that carries our inner dreams. This exquisite artwork is not about drifting off, but about holding onto the unseen, deeply real aspirations we carry within ourselves.
The intricate kupenga (netting) creates a deliberate frame around these dreams, providing just enough structure to make the unseen seen without limiting them. It represents our hopes and the things we are actively moving toward, even while they are still forming.
Perfectly aligning with the Matariki kaupapa of remembrance, celebration, and hope, this powerful work connects deeply to Te Herenga Waka, acting like the binding points of a waka that keep us steady as we navigate through life.
