Each piece is constructed as a ceramic casting of the original carving and then has 4 coats of paint applied and paua inlay eyes inserted.

Each piece is completely made by hand and the process takes up to 5 days to complete, making every one unique.

In Te Ao Māori, "wehi" refers to a response of awe or dread to something extraordinary and powerful. It is often experienced in the presence of a great leader or a powerful performance, where it relates directly to their ihi, the inner spiritual power that gives them authority and presence.
