Hand Thrown Cup

Crafted with the traditional Japanese Yobitsugi style, each mens cup is individually hand-thrown with pieces from other ceramics, making each one truly unique.

“Yobi” means to call and “tsugi” means to connect. Rather than only using pieces from the original ceramic object, Yobitsugi incorporates “foreign” pieces from other objects to mend the broken ceramic item.

Inspired by his Māori heritage and the sixteen years he spent living in Japan, Aaron Scythe uses text, imagery, and symbolism to adorn the one of a kind pieces he creates. From his studio in Whanganui, Aaron has handmade this beautiful large ceramic mens cup which he painted with multiple colours and then glazed.
