Yobitsugi Style Jug | Aaron Scythe
Yobitsugi is a type of grafting. It refers to a grafting method whereby a tree with roots is to be grafted into a stock tree. This method is applied to species whose cultivation in pots is difficult. A ''tocho-shi'' branch of the same tree or a nursery tree with roots of the same species may be used as graft.
Inspired by his Māori heritage and the sixteen years he spent living in Japan, Aaron Scythe uses text, imagery, and symbolism to adorn the one of a kind pieces he creates. From his studio in Whanganui, Aaron has handmade this beautiful large ceramic vase which he painted with multiple colours and then glazed.
