From her studio in sunny Whakatū / Nelson, Serena has created this beautiful original painting. 

Serena has used oil paint which is then set with multiple layers and the images draw and sculpture from the layers.

"The paintings are lyrical in the way the paint flows, the explosions of colour, and the movement and expression in the drawings of my animals which I bring to life by painting with my fingers and wiping the paint away to create fluttering wings.

Most of my paintings include bees, ladybirds, hummingbirds, kingfishers, the bringers of good fortune, luck, and a sign of love. 

My paintings are unashamedly whimsical and dream like."
