This woodblock print offers a detailed depiction of tohorā, also known as southern right whales, showcasing their unique traits - the absence of a dorsal fin and a V-shaped spray from their blowhole. According to the merchant, the utilization of a monkey winch was employed to bring boats onto shore.

Inspired by her understanding of the importance of land, and its connection to people, Nic Tucker creates woodblock prints of New Zealand landscapes that she produces on a printing press located in her Napier studio.
