Traditionally, a short 2-edged weapon of stone, wood or bone, tapering in thickness. It was designed to give a crushing, rather than a cutting blow. It was used to strike the opponent's chest, head or wrist. Many Wahaika had a small figure carved on their side, called a Pūkaiora. This represented their tribal God of War who would guard over the warrior during battle.

This  Contemporary Glass Wahaika is adorned with Pukeko Feathers bound with a natural waxed cord. This is a unique piece of art produced through a complex cast glass process.

This piece is made from Blue 40% Lead Crystal Gaffer glass. 

The work sits on a base of upcycled Oak and is finished with linseed oil.

Celtic spirals symbolize both the inner and outer worlds and the themes of birth, death and rebirth, as well as the unity of mental, physical and spiritual self.

The Triskele or triple spiral is said to be the oldest symbol of spirituality. 

The spiral is said to be an important spiritual marking that dates back to ancient origins in Irish culture and is recognised by many cultures, especially Maori.

One interpretation links the triskele (triple spiral) to the three domains of land, sea and sky. This piece is part of a tri-series, the other two are white for the sky and green for the land.

The triple spiral is also called a triskele. It is still found in several Megalithic and Neolithic sites. The symbol is thought to be so old that it may predate the celts entirely.

Many people around the world consider it a symbol of great beauty and mystery. The drawing represents the three powers of maiden, mother and crone. It is a sign of female power and especially power through transition and growth.
