Beauty Lives - Giclée Print

Jane Puckey's family has lived in Northland for generations and the exceptional natural beauty of the area is significant and meaningful to her. Jane's inspiration to paint arises from the play and contrast of New Zealand's brilliant light on the ever changing hues of the sea and deep colours of the land. 

Over the past 25 years, Jane has actively evolved her painting process from water colours to acrylics on canvas, also developing a more subtle colour palette. Jane's painting exhibits an increasing level of abstraction within structure, and overall, more sensitivity regarding tonal qualities as Jane surrenders to being fully in the present moment with her work.

The aliveness in Jane’s contemporary style evokes the beauty and presence of New Zealand, leading to her paintings and prints being celebrated and sought after by collectors here in New Zealand and internationally.

Jane's eagerness to visit Mimiwhangata, a stunning part of New Zealand’s eastern coastline, came after seeing it in a photograph. Escaping from Auckland on a day trip one Sunday back in 2005, Jane headed north. After going through Whangarei, she headed towards Helena Bay, gradually drawing closer to Mimiwhangata. Winding down through native bush into grasslands, she was excited to finally see the windswept coastline in the distance. Mimiwhangata was at long last in my sights, and the long drive was well worth the breathtaking panorama that lay before me. 

Jane wished to see the ocean and islands from every perspective in order to visualise them on future canvases. Wandering along the deserted shore and hillsides absorbing the beauty that lay before me, she felt her senses refreshed and revitalized. The warm land tones combined with the ever-changing blues and greens of the sea produced a sense of summer joy and lightness.

These limited edition Giclée art prints (printed locally in Auckland, New Zealand) achieve superb colour and archival quality with pigment-based inks on acid-free 308gsm Hahnemuhle Rag paper or 100% acid-free cotton canvas.
