“By chance, I checked the weather map this afternoon & recognized what might be ideal conditions for a remarkable sunset. So I dropped everything & raced towards Awhitu to try & capture what might develop. Being slowed by busy commuter traffic, I realized I was not going to make the lighthouse in time, so when I saw this group of sculpted trees basking in their dramatic glow, I knew they were it! With no time to waste, I had to work at warp speed before the light faded. I recorded two sets of photographs, but the light was perfect in only these first. And just in the nick of time!
