Mande Rongomaiwahine (Amanda Haylings) is of Ngati Tuwharetoa ki Kawerau/ Ngati Rangitihi (Te Arawa) and Ngāti Awa (Mataatua) Te Whānau Apanui descent.
From a child Mande learned her whānau weaving knowledge from her mother Meretauhinga (Ronnie Haylings) and Nan Emere Ngaheu; taonga tuku iho (handed down through generations).
As an adult Mande furthered her knowledge in Te Arawa and has been fortunate to be surrounded by many grand mentors and artists. Mande completed her third bachelors degree Maunga Kura Toi (weaving) with Te Wananga o Aotearoa in 2018.
Mande enjoys creating over a broad scale; from the prestigious traditional kiwi kakahu to the contemporary modern wearable arts.
