Mānawanawa Light - Natural - Natural | Ellis Aranga

Mānawanawa teaches us about the importance of patience and determination. This design represents the importance of persevering through tough times and having the patience to personify determination in striving to achieve your dreams and goals. Patience is not just the ability to wait but an opportunity to reflect on life’s many lessons. Good things take time!

Bamboo ply laser cut with LED economical strip lighting

This piece was designed by Ellis Aranga & created by ATARAU Lighting. Ellis is a very talented ta moko artist from Ngai Tuhoe & is working out of Otautahi tattoo studio in Auckland. This taonga was commissioned by ATARAU Lighting & designed by Ellis.

Each lightbox has been lined with LED strip lights & a power source that has a two-meter power cord coming out the back of the box. The frame is made of an 18mm ply. The design itself has been vectorized and laser-cut into a vinyl adhesive & applied to a 3mm acrylic screen. The lightboxes have a metal wire running across the back of the box to hang on the wall. The boxes can also safely stand on their own to display on the ground.

ATARAU Lighting creates original lightboxes through the eyes of the artist. ATARAU started their journey by creating limited artist series. They now are working alongside Maori & Pacific artists to create customized designs based on the customers' korero from a consultation process & are able to turn those designs into a personalized lightbox. They also offer artists a creative variation of showcasing their work through their lightboxes.
