Hand painted figure of a Maori warrior holding a Patu. This warrior also wears a tapahu, a war mat made from the skin of the Kuri, the now extinct dog introduced to New Zealand by the Maori. These were made by sewing together whole skins. He holds a mere pounamu, adornments include a hei tiki around his neck, hei taringa in his ear and albatross feathers in his hair.
