Chief with Kotiate and Tewhatewha
Price: $45.00
Hand painted figure of a Maori Chief holding a Tewhatewha. The Tewhatewha is a long handles weapon with an axe shaped head. It was very effective in combat where warriors could strike at a distance before close hand combat weapons could be used. The Kotiate is a a short club normally made of wood or whalebone. Kotiate means to cut or divide the liver, it is probably taken from its shape, which resembles the lobed part of the human liver.
55mm high
