The Ruru is more commonly known in New Zealand as the Morepork thanks to its unique call "morepork, morepork".
Here he is sitting on a karaka tree which produces succulent berries favoured by many a native bird including the Ruru and Kereru.
These tea towels are hand drawn designs, hand screen printed onto 100% cotton in Aotearoa by Melina Martin.
