Hand-made plastic poi with 320mm long cord handles.
Originally, the Poi was a ball made from the leaves of the Raupo plant and attached with a cord. This was used by Maori warriors to keep their wrists supple for weilding weaponry in battle.
However today, they are used by women in cultural performances to provide unique visual and sound effects during the singing of their Waiata or songs.
